Build Your Future with Vertico

Workers operating 3D concrete printer in industrial warehouse setting

We're committed to fostering talent and innovation. At Vertico, our team is the foundation of our success, driving forward architectural advancements with creativity and expertise. Join us in shaping the future of design and construction, where every contribution makes an impact.

Open Position

Medior / Senior Mechatronics Engineer — Software & Systems Integration

At Vertico we develop advanced robotic additive manufacturing solutions for concrete printing that push the boundaries of large-scale 3D printing. We combine robotics, motion control, software engineering, and industrial automation to create technologies used by innovators in architecture, infrastructure and construction worldwide.

We are looking for a Medior or Senior Mechatronics Engineer with a focus on both software / systems integration and mechanical know-how — someone who enjoys translating complex machine behavior into elegant, reliable control systems and who thrives at the intersection of automation, software, and creativity.

Your Role

You will play a key role in designing, developing, and integrating the control architecture behind our robotic 3D concrete printing platforms. From motion control and machine logic to remote diagnostics and intelligent system behavior, you will help shape the next generation of industrial automation solutions.

You enjoy solving multidisciplinary challenges and are motivated by building systems that are not only technically robust, but also intuitive, scalable, and forward-thinking.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain machine control software for advanced robotic systems.
  • Develop PLC, IPC, and motion control applications within the Beckhoff TwinCAT ecosystem.
  • Help create and optimize HMI interfaces focused on usability, clarity, and operator experience.
  • Integrate software, robotics, sensors, drives, and peripheral systems into cohesive machine platforms.
  • Develop supporting tools and automation workflows using Python.
  • Support commissioning, testing, debugging, and performance optimization of systems both remotely and on-site.
  • Implement remote connectivity, diagnostics, software deployment, and update strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical, robotics, and process engineering teams to create innovative manufacturing solutions.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and continuously improve software quality, modularity, and maintainability.
What We’re Looking For

  • Medior or Senior-level experience in mechatronics, industrial automation or control engineering.
  • Strong experience with PLC/IPC programming and control software development within the Beckhoff TwinCAT environment or similar.
  • Potential experience with EtherCAT, OPC-UA or kinematics.
  • Experience designing industrial HMI applications.
  • Solid software development skills, including proficiency in Python.
  • Good IT knowledge, including:
  • VPNs and secure remote connectivity
  • Remote diagnostics and troubleshooting
  • System updates and deployment
  • Machine commissioning and support
  • Strong analytical mindset with a hands-on engineering mentality.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative multidisciplinary team.
  • Curiosity, creativity, and a drive to innovate.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to work on groundbreaking robotic manufacturing technology.
  • A highly innovative, fun and international working environment.
  • Significant freedom and ownership in technical decision-making.
  • Direct impact on products used by leading innovators worldwide.
  • A collaborative team that values experimentation, initiative, and engineering excellence.
  • Competitive salary and growth opportunities aligned with your experience and ambitions.
  • Opportunity to travel the world on installation from California to Japan, Australia and all around Europe, if you wish.
