Microbiocene: Ancient Ooze to Future Myths

The Microbiocene art project explores the intersection of art, biology, and architecture through groundbreaking 3D-printed sculptures inspired by natural growth patterns. With its fluid, layered structure, the piece evokes the organic formations found in microbiological and geological landscapes—from cellular colonies to sedimentary rock strata.

Crafted with eco-conscious materials, the sculpture presents a vision of sustainable design that bridges scientific research and creative expression. It challenges conventional notions of sculpture while highlighting the untapped potential of microbiotic-inspired aesthetics in future design philosophies.

Originally printed in collaboration with artists Baum & Leahy and the NIOZ Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research, the sculpture now finds its home at ARTIS Amsterdam Royal Zoo, where it continues to inspire public reflection on the invisible forces shaping our world.
