Minimalism in Concrete: 3D Printed Chair

Minimalism in Concrete
This minimalist chair is the result of a creative collaboration between designers Area Luce, Davide Maccari, and Julius Juul, developed by Pelle Dekker, and brought to life at Vertico using our 3D concrete printing technology.
With its strong, sculptural presence and industrial edge, the chair explores how digital fabrication can reinterpret classic design principles with a contemporary touch.
A Sculptural Form, Printed in Layers
The chair consists of two concrete volumes, each printed separately for optimal precision and clean geometry. Their form, reminiscent of twin skyscrapers, is defined by carefully controlled layering that gives the surface a distinctive rhythm and texture. The lines are deliberate, the surfaces smooth, and the overall shape both bold and balanced.
Concrete Meets Metal
To complement the concrete, sleek metal inserts and a minimal seat were added. This combination introduces contrast - between texture and smoothness, weight and lightness. It’s a chair that feels architectural yet functional, refined yet raw.
Tech and Craft in Harmony
This project showcases the power of robotic fabrication in product design. By blending advanced technology with thoughtful detailing, we achieved a piece that celebrates both engineering and elegance. It’s a clear example of how digital tools can unlock new creative directions in furniture design.
