Vertico's ExoGarden wins at BAD Awards 2024

3D Printed Modular Eco-Habitats for Earth and Space
Vertico was proud to be part of the visionary ExoGarden project—an innovative architectural prototype developed by Anna Vershinina and space-farming researcher Wieger Wamelink. Together, we explored new ways of building for a sustainable future, both on Earth and beyond.
From modeling to optimization
Our team led the 3D printing efforts, transforming a bold concept into a print-ready reality. From geometry optimization to assembly strategies, we engineered the structure to balance technical performance with ecological sensitivity. This collaboration reflects our commitment to applying advanced concrete printing in service of forward-thinking design and environmental innovation.
Space Farming
ExoGarden is an innovative system for space farming, crafted to efficiently "grow" shelter and food with maximum space utilization and minimal environmental impact. With innovative features like earthworm-assisted composting to minimize water usage and repurpose organic waste, ExoGarden is not just about sustainability - it's about redefining what's possible for habitation on Earth and beyond.
The exhibition took place at the amazing gallery MU Hybrid Art Hous
