Revisiting a Classic: Vertico’s 3D Printed Christmas Tree
What began as a fun experiment in 2020 has now become a small but meaningful benchmark of our development. This year, we reimagined our original 3D printed Christmas tree to demonstrate just how far our technology and design capabilities have come.

What Changed in 2024?
The 2024 version of the tree showcases major improvements in both design and production. The proportions were carefully refined to give the form more visual balance and stability. Unlike the original raw concrete version, this new tree features green pigment, introduced during printing to give the tree a more festive, finished look — without post-processing.

We also improved the layer consistency and surface detail, achieving cleaner lines and crisper edges. The overall geometry was optimized for printing speed and material flow, leading to a more efficient and reliable fabrication process.
Printing It Upside Down
Perhaps the most unusual feature of the project was the decision to print the tree upside down. By doing so, we ensured that the topmost parts — often the most visually sensitive — benefited from the cleanest possible print finish. After curing, the tree was rotated and installed right side up, revealing a beautifully tapered form with high surface quality from top to base.
A Small Object, A Big Step
Though modest in scale, the tree highlights Vertico’s continuous pursuit of smarter design and cleaner robotic execution. From slicing and material testing to color integration and speed optimization, it reflects the many small innovations that add up to better, more flexible concrete printing.
