"What about rebar?" - when clients ask, this is what we show them.
Results of the destructive compression test performed at the Eindhoven University of Technology on a column designed by the University of Liverpool
This is a section of the column and a scale model of the final result. The rebar was inserted after printing and the column was filled with self-compacting concrete.
Even without updated norms and standards, 3D printed formwork can still be used for casting. The form freedom allows for in place optimised formwork and new aesthetics. Additionally: the wooden formwork that is largely discarded is no longer required!
