Pushing boundaries with the 2023 concrete canoe
Racing in the annual concrete canoe race has become a tradition at Vertico, and each edition tracks both creativity and technical progress. In 2023 we entered our fourth 3D printed canoe, which showed clear improvements in quality and technique over earlier versions such as the 2022 canoe.
Technical details
The 2023 canoe was made with non-planar 3D printing, which gave it greater structural strength and a more dynamic design.
For the first time, we added a color pigment. It gives the canoe its own look and shows another side of printing with color.
The canoe was printed in two parts. This practical approach simplified production without reducing performance.
A yearly benchmark
The race is a yearly check on how far 3D concrete printing has come. Each year we refine our processes and designs, and this entry reflects that progress. The series continued with the 2025 canoe.
