Huge sphere bowl
Vertico 3D printed a 1.5 m diameter concrete sphere, a scaled-up version of Creastone's signature sphere water ornament. The work was a case study within the project Raak MKB Konkreter.
It takes a lot to make a production process look simple and effortless, but with the right team it is a lot of fun getting there.
From proof of concept to full scale
The proof-of-concept spheres, 60 and 90 cm in diameter, were printed at Saxion's 3D concrete printing lab. Vertico's printing setup then made it possible to scale up and print a 1.5 m sphere in just a few hours.
The case study showed how 3D concrete printing allows full customization of the dimensions of existing designs. It also explored integrating a function into the object: a jacuzzi.
The project is a collaboration with Saxion, part of Vertico's work with universities and research labs. It is financed by Nationaal Regieorgaan Praktijkgericht Onderzoek SIA.
